Interview and Interrogation Techniques:
This three day (24 hour) course will prepare all law enforcement officers, regardless of assignment, for obtaining legal confessions. The course is instructed by a team of highly experienced investigators with extensive experience in homicide, sex crimes, child abuse and narcotics investigations. Focus will also be on the following topics:
Identifying deceptive behavior
Statement analysis (written and verbal)
Theme development
Conducting interrogations of sex offenders
Strategies and legal issues involving Miranda
Constructing timeline interviews
Social Media Investigations:
This two day (16 hour) course will provide all law enforcement officers with the skills needed to use the most current forms of social media and open source information to enhance investigations. With all new electronic technology comes opportunities for Law Enforcement to mine electronic devices and the internet for evidence of all types of crimes and criminal associations among conspirators. The course requires students to have a computer for practical excersises and will include instruction in:
Familiarization with the latest open source sites (PIPL, Spokeo, Google) and techniques used to gather information from them.
Commonly used social media sites (Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, etc) and how to legally obtain information from them.
Identifying criminal organizations and how they use social media to identify and recruit potential victims
Building undercover social media sites to identify real-life criminal targets.
Opioid/Fentynol and Pharmaceutical Drug Investigations
This 1 day (8 hour) course will educate all law enforcement officers about the dominant form of drug abuse in our society today. Opioid and Pharmaceutical drugs abuse is responsible for an alarming amount of violent crimes and deaths from overdose.This course will provide instruction in the following areas:
Fentynol, heroin, analgesics
Recognition of specific drugs and associated paraphernalia
Methods of concealment
Behaviors of drug traffickers
Investigation of overdose deaths
Case studies of successful drug conspiracy investigations involving opioids and pharmaceuticals
Developing and Managing Informants
This 1 day (8) hour course is a must for any officer regardless of their duty assignment. The course will address best practices for successful use of informants through extensive case studies and classroom practical exercises. Topics covered will include:
How to develop traditional and non-traditional sources of information
Best practices for managing the informant
Proactively utilizing informants for case enhancement and prosecution
Case studies of highly successful investigations generated by the use of informants
Case studies of tragic outcomes due to mishandling of informants and lessons learned
Covert Undercover Techniques
This 3 day (24 hour) course is designed for plainclothes or undercover officers who are assigned to conduct street and mid level drug enforcement. Instruction addresses the unique situations often encountered by plainclothes officers. This course will focus on techniques that will allow officers and teams to conduct safe and effective undercover, buy busts, “rips”, reversals, and vehicle take-downs.This is course that will combine lecture with hands on exercises, practical force on force scenarios, and tactical shooting techniques. The tactical shooting portion will address drawing from concealment, drawing and shooting from seated, vehicle bail out drills, teamwork techniques, and other shooting drills geared toward the plainclothes officer. The course will address the following topics:
Operational planning for safety and success
Undercover operations (buy bust, jump out, rips, reversals)
Legal issues and use of force
Role of the undercover and backup team
Teamwork and communication
Vehicle take-downs, bail out drills, and suspect extraction
Open area take-downs and foot pursuits
Integration of Tazer, less lethal, and long gun
Shooting from in and around vehicles
Tactical shooting techniques geared toward the plainclothes officer
Undercover officer rescue
Plain clothes survival and close quarter defensive tactics
Plainclothes Officer Survival
This 2-3 day course is designed specifically for the unique needs of undercover officers or officers assigned to plainclothes assignments. The bulk of current officer survival training is geared toward the uniformed patrol officer. Most agencies neglect to address the unique set of officer survival challenges that plain clothes/undercover officers face on a daily basis. This intensive course will cover the following topics:
Survival considerations for the plainclothes officer.
Survival Mindset
Use of force continuum and de-escalation of a confrontation.
Concealed Weapons carry and equipment selection
Backup and improvised weapons
Drawing and Firing from Concealment
Defensive tactics
Shooting and Defensive tactics while seated in a vehicle.

This 3 day (24 hour) course will teach the basics of physical surveillance. It will address the following topics:
Introduction to surveillance
Qualities of a good surveillance officer
Dress and mannerisms
Covert communications

Basic stationary, foot, and vehicle surveillance techniques
Planning a surveillance operation
Conducting surveillance briefing and debrief
